01 - ESPRESSIONISMO ASTRATTO - La rivoluzione del gesto - Michele Dantini
Full video soon available at https://www.eduflix.it Beginning in the 1930s, the United States began to assume a leading role in the global cultural landscape. The dramatic situation in Europe, marked by the rise of fascism, pushed many intellectuals and artists to emigrate to America. These were the exponents of the New York School, who, despite not having a clearly defined program, shared a focus on the creative act, the artist's intimate expression. Their research developed in two directions: the meditative and contemplative approach of Rothko, and the gestural action painting of Pollock, De Kooning, and Kline. The international success of these painters and their innovative language marked the definitive shift of artistic supremacy from Europe to the United States.
