I Entered a Soviet-Era Supermarket on Svalbard: Here’s What They Sell

This video is intended purely as a documentary-style exploration of a unique and little-known place in the Arctic. The goal is simply to show everyday life, environments, and cultures that still exist today in one of the most remote corners of the world. In this video I visit the supermarket of Barentsburg, a Russian settlement in the Svalbard archipelago where many details still feel frozen in the Soviet era. Even though the store has been expanded and updated compared to a few years ago, it still keeps that unmistakable atmosphere: Cyrillic products, old-style interiors, and a feeling of being completely detached from the modern world. Walking through the aisles of this Arctic supermarket honestly felt surreal. Outside there is ice, snow, and polar silence; inside, shelves full of Russian products and a reality that feels suspended in time.
