4L65E Teardown and Inspection (4L60E vs 4L65E)
I perform a tear down and inspection on a 2005 4L65E and cover the differences between the 4L65E and 4L60E transmissions, summarizing the list of differences at the end of the video. Identification note: If the transmission's ID sticker is worn off or not legible, turn the case upside down and look at the very rear where the extension housing bolts to the case. You will see a series of letters and numbers laser-engraved into the machined bottom edge. The first four characters (1 number and three letters) make up the ID Tag information. First character is a number and represents the year of production so a '1' would indicate 2001. The next three letters are the three-character Id code for that particular variant and application. You want to see 'KDZ' if looking for a 4L65E. Example engraving (first four characters only): 1KDZ
