Historia del arte de los siglos XVIII y XIX - Clase 5
The third of the three greatest artists of the Dutch Golden Age is Johann Vermeer. Today we will use him as a central figure around which we will examine the work of other geniuses of genre painting from the Netherlands. We will mention: Robert Campin and Pieter Brueghel the Elder, who introduced elements of everyday life into the themes they developed; Jan Steen (1625-1679); Gerard Ter Borch (1617-1681); Pieter de Hooch (1629-1679); Gabriel Mëtsu (1629-1667); and earlier artists whose work we relate to that of these artists: Dürer, Bosch, Quentin Massys, Marinus van Reymerswale, and Rogier van der Weyden. Artists who address the culminating theme of Rampjaaar (the year of disaster): Pieter Frits and Jan de Baen The class will be available online until December 31, 2025. Presented by Anabella Sánchez
