BMW 335d DIESEL | DPF Delete | Part 1 | Removing the DPF | Step by Step Tutorial | DIY on E90 M57
BMW 335d DPF Removal | Part 1 of 2 In this video, I begin a two-part series on removing the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) from my 2011 BMW 335d. This first part focuses entirely on the removal process — from prepping the workspace to dropping the DPF out of the car — while part 2 will handle what comes next. The job starts under the hood, where I take off the engine covers and air box to open up space around the DPF and its mounting points. With that cleared out, I move underneath the car, safely raising it on four jack stands and removing the underbody trays to expose the exhaust system. From there, I go step by step through the disassembly process. I disconnect the various sensors tied into the DPF system — including the NOx sensors, soot detection sensor, O2 sensor, and EGT sensor — before unbolting the unit from the exhaust and the turbo via the v-band clamp. Along the way, I point out tips and challenges that can help make the process smoother for anyone attempting this job at home. One of the biggest hurdles is the motor mount. To get the DPF out, it has to be removed and the engine carefully lifted for clearance. I show exactly how I tackled this step and how I managed to slide the DPF out safely from underneath the car. Before wrapping up, I reinstall the motor mount bracket and explain why putting it back in place now will save a lot of headaches when it comes time to fit the new downpipe. This video is meant to give a real-world look at what’s involved in removing a DPF on the BMW 335d. It’s not just about turning bolts — it’s about understanding the sequence, the tools you’ll need, and the potential sticking points you’ll face along the way. 👉 Don’t miss Part 2, where I’ll cover the next stage of the project. PART 1 of my ABC delete series: A complete, in-depth series of deleting YOUR BMW 335D emissions. Often referred as an "ABC delete" or getting the car "potholed." Both are codenames for an emissions delete on your diesel powered M57 E90 BMW 335D. This series will show you how to delete the DPF, the SCR system, uploading a tune, and eventually an EGR delete (it's in the works.)
