PHIL COLLINS - Behind The Lines - Bass cover

The song was released in 1981 as Collins' radical reworking of the Genesis song from Duke. Nearly the same composition was played at a higher speed, and it received arrangement with the Phenix Horns from Earth, Wind & Fire. The lyrics feel more like impressionistic to me. The bassline is a masterpiece by Alphonso Johnson, formerly of Weather Report. I was not able to reproduce all the syncopated phrases and small rhythmic displacements throughout the song - these create kind of momentum without drawing attention to themselves. The bass never takes over the song, yet it is impossible to imagine the track having the same energy without it. Bass used: Lakland Skyline 44-64 PJ Recorded with Garageband and OBS Studio powered by Presonus Studio 68c. The sound chain includes Boss OC-5 Octaver, Empress Compressor, Sonic Maximizer, B85 Audio Overdrive, BOSS CEB-3 Chorus and SansAmp Tech 21 Bass Driver D.I. V.2 (EQ flat). Song info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behind_... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not necessarily 100% like the original, but for use in a cover band. This is neither a studio recording nor a tutorial video. This is to honour the composers and previous generations of musicians and to enjoy the song as it is. Yes, there are mistakes and I hope to be able to play the tune better one day :-)
