No Green Hyper Spray, no bug room grind, no Pyramid Head despawn during Hospital chase, no splicing, no savestates, PS2 boat stage, 3D controls. This run is true to the core. My best 10 Star Silent Hill video. I didn't think I was ever going to get this, and if I was then I thought it was a long way away. But, right after I finished my previous challenge (   • Silent Hill 2 - 10 Star Rank - No Bullet A...  ) I sat down to see how far I could get. And, somehow, I kept going. I don't think any 10 star challenge I've attempted or will attempt before or after this will even touch this one's difficulty. What makes this challenge so hard? I could go into detail explaining multiple different nuances, but I'll keep it simple: Maria. People forget how difficult Maria is because no one plays SH2 on hard mode, and because the game litters you with enough health and ammo to brute force her. But, hard mode Maria is probably the hardest boss in the entire series. She is a total endurance battle who does a ton of damage and has as much health as the dual Pyramid Heads before her combined. She is easy to choke since she comes at the very end, and knowing you'll have to go back 3 hours and play as meticulously as you were to get back to her is incredibly stress inducing. There is no real way to know if you even have the 10 star rank (or even all the items) until after you defeat her, so at that point it's really all or nothing and it all comes down to Maria and Maria alone. Everything before her matters greatly, and nothing before her matters once you actually reach her. No saves, all or nothing. She is the exclamation point to the run.
