Solo minivan camp with dog | loud parties, M*A*S*H event, no firewood at Malibu Creek State Park

Should I have just gone back to Leo Carrillo? 😅 This Malibu Creek camping trip had everything—shade, M*A*S*H memories… and a few unexpected surprises. Welcome back to another solo camping adventure with Teddy the Shih Poo and Minnie the 2006 Toyota Sienna! This trip took us to beautiful Malibu Creek State Park for a relaxing weekend of minivan camping… although not everything went according to plan. 😅 On this trip: 🏕️ Camping at Site 17 with shade all day 📺 Watching a special M*A*S*H amphitheater event featuring actor Jeff Maxwell sharing stories from the show 🚐 My Toyota Sienna’s check engine light suddenly came on! 🔥 The camp host never showed up with firewood 😢 🍳 Cooking potstickers, veggies, and pancakes at camp 🐶 Camping with a young rescue dog 🔥 Finally buying firewood from a kind neighbor for a morning campfire 😴 Loud campers and late-night screaming (the realistic campground experience!) Even with the little mishaps, Malibu Creek State Park turned out to be such a beautiful place to camp. Site 17 was especially amazing with cool shade throughout the day — perfect for warmer weather camping in Southern California. But I couldn’t stop from comparing it to Leo Carrillo State Beach Campground.
