10/3/1975 Radford Ties for Top Spot Radford, with New River District leader Wytheville playing outside the league, easily defeated Giles, 28-0, Friday night to tie for the first place in the conference. The win, which would have been more lopsided if there hadn't been for so many Radford penalties, gave the Bobcats a 4-0 New River record. the same as Wytheville. Both Radford and Wytheville, which defeated Fort Chiswell in a non-district game, are 5-0 overall. Wythe Defeats Ft. Chiswell MAX MEADOWS--George Wythe won the Wythe County football championship Friday night with a 26-0 victory over Ft. Chiswell in a battle of unbeatens. Tim Alderman and Addison Woods kept the Maroons undefeated by scoring for the Maroons to up their record to 5-0. INDEPENDENCE 28. The Bobcats also scored their third shutout in five games. Roger Wills led the awesome Radford ground game with three touchdowns and 192 yards rushing on 28 carries. Bill King scored the other Bobcat touchdowns. Linebacker Howard Haynes the star for the Radford defense. CHRISTIANSBURG 21. FLOYD thing about C- Burg's Bailey: He gets Randone the most mileage out of his yardage. Bailey rushed for only 20 yards, but still scored all 21 of the Blue Demons' points on runs of 5.5, and 1 yards and three extra points. GALAX 13, CARROLL 0 - This one also was a one-man show as Jeff Lindsey scored all the Galax points on runs of 2 and 50 yards and a PAT kick. Lindsey also intercepted a Carroll pass. Galax had 202 yards rushing, Carroll only 40. BLACKSBURG 14, NARROWS 6 Blacksburg ran its record to 4-1 while Giles dropped to 2-3. It was not exactly night for this Indians. however, as star Sidney Snell was injured and taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries were not known. Terry McCoy scored the second touchdown for Blacksburg, which put it out of reach for Narrows.
