Ich habe den Wikinger-Musik-Hype überprüft | Zwischen Peyton Parrish und archäologischen Funden

What did music in the Viking Age really sound like? If you search for Viking music today, you'll usually find somber choirs, deep voices, warlike drums, and a lot of modern productions. From viral TikTok sounds to AI-generated songs to artists like Payton Parrish, this music shapes our image of the Vikings. But does it have anything to do with historical Viking music? In this video, we'll look at what we actually know about music in the Viking Age. What historical sources exist? What instruments were used? What can archaeologists and historians prove, and where does pure speculation begin? I've also invited guests who will introduce historical instruments and demonstrate what music from the Viking Age might have sounded like. This isn't about disparaging modern Viking music. Many of these songs are entertaining and successful. The interesting question is: Why do we associate this particular sound with the Vikings, even though the historical evidence often suggests something completely different? Feel free to write in the comments: What modern Viking music do you listen to, and what do you imagine the Viking Age sounded like?
