Muttley Crew, NFAS open 22nd Feb 2026, field archery
Muttley Crew Archers are members of the National Field Archery Society, (NFAS) which has over 160 clubs and thousands of members. Like most field archery clubs in the association, they run at least 1 sometime 2 open shoots per year, where archers from other clubs can come and take part in a competition, and archers shoot in different bow styles and class, such as long bow, bare bow and thumb draw, as well as many other classes, women, men and children compete against each other. Even though archers are scoring and some are looking to be placed in 1st 2nd or 3rd for their individual category, the whole thing is very relaxed and lots of archers are there just to enjoy the day, the comradery and don't care where they come in the points. With field archery clubs all across the UK there is a very varied verity of terrain that you can shoot on, from flat open woodland and fields, to very hilly and dense woodlands, you have to shoot in-between trees over bushes and other natural obstacles and this makes each course have their own flavours and challenges, which makes field archery much more interesting and challenging than Olympic style target archery, which is always on flat ground with known distances. Field Archery came to the UK during WW2 with American GI's who found traditional English target archery uninspiring and simulates bow hunting, once vital to put food on the table but is now outlawed in the UK. Field archery is a great sport, that all the family can get involved in. Although there is a bit of swearing in the video, this was a group of adults and archers are always respectful if children are in the group and restrict their language accordingly. Many clubs including my own, Blaidd Field Archers in North Wales run have a go or beginners courses, you can find details of clubs in your area on the NFAS site, I will leave all relevant links below. bow; Raider by Paragon bows 42# @28 - 50# @31 https://paragonbows.com/ follow me here; / hewhoflingssticks https://www.instagram.com/degsyjones/... / blaiddfieldarchers https://nfas.net/ Muttley Crew Archers https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... https://www.muttleyarchers.co.uk/fiel... #asiaticarchery #fieldarchery #3darchery #thumbdrawarchery #thumbringarchery #thumbshooters #traditionalarchery #traditionalarcher #traditionalbow #paragonbows #asiaticarcher #thumbdrawarcher #archery #archerybow #archerylife #archerylifestyle #archerylove #bowsandarrows #archerybow #bowandarrow #nfas
