Hooks are the most underrated setting in Claude Code, and most people have no idea they exist. They're the reason I can let Claude Code work autonomously on real projects without losing sleep over what it might break. In this video I install the 4 hooks I run on every single Claude Code build, plus a tour of my full 7-hook setup. Language models are probabilistic. Even the best ones have a 1-5% failure rate on following instructions. In a project with 10,000 tool calls, that's around 100 things that go wrong. Your CLAUDE.md rules are strong suggestions, not hard rules. Hooks live in the shell layer, they fire before Claude even gets to think about it.
