I Tried Ponytail Inside Claude Code (You Should Too)

If you use Claude Code, you are probably burning way more tokens than you need to, and it is not your prompts. It is the simple fact that your AI agent writes way more code than the task actually needs. In this video I install a free open source plugin called ponytail, give Claude the exact same task with it on and off, and we see what actually changes. Ponytail makes your agent act like a lazy senior dev. Before it writes anything, it runs every action through a simple ladder: does this even need to exist, can the standard library already do it, can it be one line, and only then does it write the minimum that works. It cuts the waste, not the corners, so it never drops validation, security, or the error handling you actually need. I ran it live on a real landing page build (same prompt, two terminals, both Opus 4.8 on max effort) and got about 75% less code and around 50% cheaper, with everything still working. The creator's own benchmark across multiple Claude models pushes that up to 94% less code and up to 75% cheaper. 🛠 My Tools: Glaido🎙 : https://glaido.com/ Ollama🛠 : https://ollama.com HyperFrames🎬 : https://hyperframes.heygen.com 🔗 Resources ponytail (free, open source): https://github.com/DietrichGebert/pon...
