In 2015, Bolshaya Ordynka Street was reconstructed in central Moscow. At the time, Sobyanin was just beginning to work on streets; the "My Street" program was still a couple of years away. Overall, there were many experiments and compromises. In the case of Ordynka, there were more downsides: 1. Part of the street was not narrowed, so the two-lane street became a three-lane street—Ordynka felt like a small highway in the middle of a medieval city; 2. Nothing was done for public transportation; 3. Riding in the oncoming bike lane was scary due to high traffic speeds, and the bike lane itself simply ended a block before the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge; 4. Walking along the street was also unpleasant: high traffic speeds, noise, and crossings without traffic lights across three lanes; 5. There was little parking left. This year, they decided to replace the asphalt and update the street markings. Typically, in such cases, utility workers simply replicate the previous traffic pattern, but now the Probok.net foundation has initiated a plan update, with the help of many other good people from the Department of Transport, the Traffic Management Center, Mosgortrans, and other organizations. Together, they were able to refine the traffic patterns, and by simply re-marking them, they were able to solve some of the street's problems without extensive and expensive repairs.
