How dangerous are the streets of Phnom Penh?

While only having been here 24 hours I give my first impressions of a city as I meet and talk with a businessman who is in real estate and hardware supplies, as well as a local man I have breakfast with named Boi. I take you to the Phnom Penh post office building which has operated as such since it was built in 1895, and I give you the story of how Phnom Penh got its name as I visit Wat Phnom. I also give my understanding on how safe it is for tourists around Phnom Penh as the city has had a reputation over the years of having a lot of crime with some tourists being the victim of petty theft. At the the Tonle Sap river I tell the story of how in 2000 I took a cargo boat up to Siem Reap, and I walk the streets showing the locals shop houses. Finally I give you a room tour of where I’m staying and explain the room’s advantages and cost. A great first day walk around Phnom Penh.
