THE NEW GENERATION OF JIU-JITSU BLACK BELTS DON'T KNOW SELF-DEFENSE | RELSON GRACIE Relson Gracie (Rio de Janeiro, March 28, 1953) is a retired Brazilian professional Jiu-Jitsu fighter and martial arts figure. He is a member of the Gracie family. Relson currently lives in Hawaii, where he still teaches Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at his academy in Honolulu. Relson is the second-oldest son of Hélio Gracie, who, along with Carlos Gracie, is credited with innovating Kodokan Judo taught by Mitsuyo Maeda into what is now known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Relson began learning the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at the age of two, began competing at the age of 10, and earned his black belt when he was 18. He was undefeated as the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion for 22 years. While Relson's techniques are deeply rooted in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Relson also utilizes "street" techniques. Relson evolved his Jiu-Jitsu to help defend himself in survival situations where there are no rules. Relson is one of the few people in the world to hold a 9th-degree red belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Relson has also taught self-defense to the U.S. Army, Secret Service, DEA, FBI, and local law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. This video was taken from the Pura Connection Podcast.
