The network has 4 lines. It was derived from the former tram network. All lines pass under the city center in a tunnel, and nearly all stops are equipped with high platforms. The first clips were recorded in the northwest of Bielefeld, along line 4. The light rail stop Universität is located there. During Monday to Friday it is used by many passengers. So there are 2 sidings where additional trains can reverse. Lohmannshof is the northern terminus of line 4. It has a loop with separate platforms for arrival and departure, and you can change to buses there. Line 4 is normally operated with the newest vehicles, the Vamos or GTZ8-B cars. They were built by Heiterblick in Leipzig and came into service from 2011 on. Above the platform level the car body becomes a bit wider, so they offer more room than the older vehicles. There are two sub-series of Vamos cars. One of them is designed for high-floor platforms only. Under 3 of the 5 doors they have small emergency steps where passengers can get out onto the tracks in case of emergency. The other sub-series have folding steps at 3 of the 5 doors. So passengers can get in or out from street level at stops where no platform is available. The second part of the video presents clips from line 1 to Brackwede. On this day the older M8D cars were in service on line 1. They were built in the years 1994 to 1999 and have folding steps as well. Normally line 1 leads on to Senne. In December of 2025 this part of the line was undergoing reconstruction. So trains reversed right after Brackwede Kirche in a siding at Jenaer Straße. At the end of the video you can see clips from the southern branch of line 2 to Sieker. There are some stops without platforms. Passengers have to get in or out from street level using the folding steps.
