How good is the Ducati DesertX in the DESERT? Riding a heavy adventure motorcycle in deep sand!

The Ducati DesertX carries a cool name! But is it actually worth of it and can it live up to it´s legendary Dakar racing inspirer Cagiva Elephant? I love riding deep sand and dunes on Enduro bikes such as KTM500 and the likes, so I wondered how well the twice as heavy Ducati would do in such environment.
