VIVE SOLO en el campo
In this program, we delve into the heart of the San Juan mountains to learn the story of Nicolás Bernardo Ontivero, a 62-year-old rancher who lives alone in San Antonio, in the Baldes del Rosario area of Valle Fértil, San Juan province, Argentina. Surrounded by hills, corrals, goats, cows, and sheepdogs, Nicolás keeps alive a way of life that still endures in the deep interior of the country. In a historic stone house built over 100 years ago by his family, he shares childhood memories, rural customs, and the daily work he has done since he was very young. During our visit, we learn about the old mud and stone constructions, how a "bucket well" works to draw water, how mules are used in the mountains, and how sheepdogs protect the flocks from puma and fox attacks. He also tells us about his childhood, when he had to travel long distances to school on a donkey, and how upon returning he would help care for the animals alongside his siblings. Simple yet profound stories that reflect another era, another way of growing up, and another relationship with nature. Among centuries-old mistol trees, clay ovens, old corrals, and the silence of the countryside, this program rescues traditions, words, and rural knowledge that form part of the cultural identity of San Juan and Argentina. An authentic conversation, full of humility, memory, and feeling, that allows us to get a close look at the life of a countryman who still preserves the customs inherited from previous generations. 📍 San Antonio – Baldes del Rosario – Valle Fértil – San Juan – Argentina If you enjoyed this content, you can support the channel by sharing the video, leaving a comment, and subscribing to continue exploring stories, traditions, and people from the Argentine countryside. #SanJuan #ValleFertil #ArgentineCountryside #RuralLife #Rancher #Traditions #DeepArgentina #Documentary #CountryStories #Goats #SanJuanMountains #RanchsAndTraditions
