April 26, 2025 | I invite you to visit the Bory Tucholskie forest, Poland, filled with spring aura, at the former Bladzim railway station. 😉 Located deep in the aforementioned dense forest on the Coal Line (line no. 201), it seems to be experiencing a spring rebirth, where the forest air echoes with the various sounds of (almost) May awakening.... While visiting this beautifully situated station, we notice how much spring bustle is happening around it – flowers blooming on the bushes attract industrious bumblebees, nuthatches beetles stroll along the railway tracks, the forest floor echoes with the sounds of grasshoppers, birds sing all sorts of melodies in the trees, and the station cats listen to it all. Despite the station's remoteness, you can still feel the hustle and bustle of spring, as the trees are blooming with vibrant colors. 😉 Walking through the station and its surroundings while waiting for the main actors with the freight train, we see a well-preserved station building with architecture typical of this railway line. The building is open and still serves as a waiting room and shelter from unfavorable weather conditions, so it's a shame not to take advantage of it and explore the interior. It's worth a visit, though, as the film shows, the interior is preserved in virtually its original condition. The only thing missing is an open ticket office in the window. Wooden benches and period upholstery complement the atmosphere. Besides the station, we also have typical buildings for this line: utility and railway buildings from a single design from the 1930s, as well as a restroom, which can still be found at many stations on this line; here, it's preserved in quite good condition. Touring the area, we witness the typical local railway of today – trains to and from Bydgoszcz and Czersk, in the form of railcars and DMUs, stop at the unmodernized, old platforms of the former station and depart for their destinations. The idyll (and perhaps the intro to the film 😉 ) lasts a bit long, but I wanted to show how time drags in such a spring idyll in the Bory Tucholskie forest, waiting for the aforementioned main characters. And after the passenger cars have parted ways and the wait has been extended for several hours, they finally arrive. 😉 These are Deutsche Bahn 'the Dutch' locos in the form of DE6400-6473 and DE6400-6501, coupled to the front and rear of the train (shuttle), returning with empty coal cars as a Somonino-Maksymilianowo freight train.
