Class 66 pod samą latarnią morską w Kołobrzegu! "PIRAT"🏴‍☠️ TURKOL & FREIGHTLINER

31/05/2026 | As every year, on Children's Day, we visit the Port of Kolobrzeg, Poland, where, as every year, the special train 'PIRATE' is heading right up to the Kolobrzeg lighthouse! 🏴‍☠️😉 The train organizer, 'TURKOL', has been treating us to surprises for some time now, planning locomotives of various interesting types for this train – there have already been EP05, EP09 and SU42 class... And now, one of the most powerful diesel locomotives in Poland is about to arrive at the lighthouse. 😉 A Class 66 from Freightliner, home to the American heart of Electro-Motive Diesel producing a 3,290 hp from her V12 engine, ran special trains for two days in a row: 'PIRAT' and 'PIRAT-BIS' ('KAMRAT'), the one from the film, from Poznan Glowny to Kolobrzeg and the Kolobrzeg port and back. The sight of such a large, long, and powerful locomotive, capable of pulling freight trains leading any passenger train, is quite a treat, especially in such a seaside setting, almost like something from a model, where the railway siding tracks practically touch the shore, lapped by the waves of the Baltic Sea and covered with sand from the nearby beach... 😉 It is here that the special train 'PIRAT' is heading towards the lighthouse, having entered the siding at Kolobrzeg station to the Kołobrzeg port. The locomotive's distinctive 'British' horn repeatedly announces its approach to its destination – and with good reason, as the train moves through the city streets like a tram: through a park, a forest, the middle of a roundabout, passing by the windows of apartments, cafes, and restaurants. The sight of such a colossus here made perhaps the greatest impression on me personally of all the locomotives I've seen here so far... And the size of this locomotive is best demonstrated in aerial shots, when from a bird's-eye view (or rather, from the seagulls, of which the skies here are plentiful) you can see that it's practically as long as the carriages it's pulling behind it! For a few moments after its arrival, the airwaves resonate with the music of the twelve American cylinders of the Class 66's heart, only to fall silent, giving way to the chirping of seagulls, the waves of the sea, and the chatter of the curious crowd, many of whom least expected to experience a train here during their morning stroll for a waffle or ice cream. 😉 While the Class 66 and its train stand majestically beneath the Kolobrzeg lighthouse, from the air we see how close it is to the beach, the harbor, the Baltic Sea, and the surrounding moored ships. The arrival of a train here is always an incredible event, attracting many people. No less attention is drawn after a few minutes of idle time, when the heart of locomotive 66025 begins to beat loudly, steadily, and melodiously again, heralding the upcoming departure of the train back to Kolobrzeg. Once again, it traverses the city streets, parks, and forests, popping into cafes, restaurants, and apartments.
