Blessed is Dear JESUS

Once again we are pleased to share this soul-stirring original gospel anthem, composed by Lisa Rudder-Moore. In this day and age of "homophobic rhetoric" this beautiful song seeks to help deal with the fear many have of being called a 'sinner.' It points the listener to the fact that the perfect antidote, Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, the "lamb slain from the foundation of the world," has deadened the stigma and turned on the often overlooked "joy" that the Sacred Scriptures associate with the word sinner. In a similar way that those who had been vaccinated in the recent worldwide pandemic, felt free to mix and mingle without fear of spreading, or being harmed by others who had not been treated for the virus, a Bible believer is no longer fearful of being identified as a "sinner" based on a genuine acceptance of the divinely provide antidote, the saving blood of Jesus' substitutionary self-sacrifice on Calvary. In a book entitled The Desire of Ages pages 741–757, the following statements can be found: “To the minds of multitudes living at the present time, the cross of Calvary is surrounded by sacred memories. Hallowed associations are connected with the scenes of the crucifixion." But today the Cross is still viewed with feelings of repulsion and horror by many who don't really know the full story. "To uphold as the Saviour of mankind one who had met death on the Cross, would naturally call forth ridicule and opposition" in the minds of many. They still say this as "absurd folly. . . looked upon as weak-minded for attempting to show how the Cross could have any connection with the elevation of the race or the salvation of mankind. Many see this "revelation of the infinite love of God, as revealed in the death of Christ;" declared in the Pauline writings as the process for bringing human "plans and purposes into harmony with heaven. . . . that when a sinner once beholds the love of the Father, as seen in the sacrifice of His Son, and yields to the divine influence, a change of heart takes place, and henceforth Christ is all and in all.”—Ellen G. White, The Acts of the Apostles, pp. 245, 246. This song reminds the listener to consider what God Almighty is offering every human being He gives life to: not just a more positive focused life on this earth, amidst all the bills, frustration, prejudice and wickedness, but an eternal future where evil and sin is not only removed, but is completely banished forever more, (see John 14:1-6; Revelation 21:1-7,9-27; 1 Peter 3:8-18; 2 Peter 3:9-14) "The Son of God came from heaven to make manifest the Father. . . . In describing His earthly mission, Jesus said, The Lord “hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Luke 4:18. This was His work. He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by Satan. . . .Love, mercy, and compassion were revealed in every act of His life; His heart went out in tender sympathy to the children of men. He took man’s nature, that He might reach man’s wants. The poorest and humblest were not afraid to approach Him. Even little children were attracted to Him. . . and gaze into the pensive face, benignant with love." The song wants everyone to understand that the Creator God says by His prophet Jeremiah, chapter 31 verse 3, "I will always love you; that's why I've been so patient and kind." Contemporary English Version. God is still saying this to ever human today, friends! The apostle John records Jesus as declaring, "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]." in John 10:10, Amplified Bible. That's why the song ends with the belting message, "Blessed, Blessed is Dear Jesus!" It is the sincere hope and prayer of the songwriter that you too will experience this joy and move swiftly beyond a word that has long held negative connotations.
