Printing a Card for THE MAN | Sleepy Letterpress
This week at Sleepy Letterpress, it’s all about THE MAN — the first man in Andy’s life (and most people's life): his dad. This week’s project is an A2 folding card printed in a fantastic Pantone 354 Green on Ms. Kelsey, the shop’s smallest press — a 3x5 Kelsey & Company. Set to some Jazz & Blues, the card carries a simple message of appreciation for a dad who is still, and always will be, the man. But this print is about more than one father. For those who still have their dad, this may be a good reminder to say what matters while you can. For those who have lost their dad, maybe it’s a chance to remember the man who shaped your life and be grateful for what he gave you. And for the men who may not be fathers in the formal sense, but who show up, encourage, protect, guide, teach, and care for others anyway — the world could use a few more DADS like that too. Sometimes the title doesn’t matter as much as the presence. Sometimes being a dad is less about biology and more about faithfulness, kindness, steadiness, and showing up when it counts. This card may not be perfect, but it is thoughtful. And maybe that’s fitting. Because the best things we give the people we love usually come from the heart more than perfection.
