YOU ARE NOT A CHILD OF GOD BY GOING TO CHURCH Text: Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who calls me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who truly do the will of my Father who is in heaven will enter. On the day of judgment, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord! We prophesied in your name, we cast out demons in your name, and we performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will answer them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you who violate God’s laws.’ Intro. You don’t become a Christian by being among Christians What you need is not more education; what you need is repentance. 1. YOU CAN BE RELIGIOUS WITHOUT BEING A CHILD Verse. “Not everyone who calls me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who truly do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. The religious man speaks of Christ, but lives like the devil. The religious man confesses God with his mouth, but denies Him with his actions. 2. YOU CAN BE IN THE CHURCH WITHOUT BEING A SON verse On the day of judgment, many will say to me, "Lord, Lord! We prophesied in your name, we cast out demons in your name, and we performed many miracles in your name." Faith is free, but obedience is costly. 1 Corinthians 13:2 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all the secret plans of God and possess all knowledge, and if I have a faith so great as to remove mountains, but do not love others, I am nothing. You can speak from God without having God inside you. Heaven can give gifts to anyone, but not everyone enters heaven. Conclusion: The fight is not between good and evil, but between REAL AND FALSE. Are you a child of God? Or just a churchgoer?
