The Himalayan Brown Bears Zoological Garden | Dehiwala | Sri Lanka

A rare South American Black Jaguar is the latest exotic animal to join our Zoo’s ‘Big Cats’ family and is now on display at the Zoological Gardens, Dehiwela in Sri Lanka. The animal, one of the several types of Jaguar species of the forests ranging from south west United States to Argentina, is famous for being depicted in ferocious form in stone sculptures on ancient buildings of the Mayas, Incas and other indigenous American nations. The Jaguar (Panthera onca) is a large feline species and a member of the genus Panthera native to the Americas. It is mostly found in the Southwestern United States and Mexico in North America, across much of Central America, and south to Paraguay and northern Argentina in South America.
