My First Trip to Einstein's Birthplace was Spent Looking for a Bathroom 😂 | Ulm Germany Vlog

I visited Ulm, Germany for the first time as a broke international student on a university guided tour. I remember nothing. Not the architecture. Not the history. Not a single word the guide said. Because I spent the entire day desperately looking for a bathroom on a Sunday in Germany — when everything is closed — and I was too broke to buy a coffee just to use the toilet. Ten years later I'm a German citizen living in Stuttgart. I went back. Properly this time. With money. And I went to the bathroom before leaving. This is what I actually saw. 😂🇩🇪 🏛️ WHAT'S IN THIS VLOG: Ulm Münster — the tallest church spire in the world Built across 513 years — started 1377, finished 1890. Five centuries of builders who never saw the finished cathedral. It survived the Allied bombing of December 1944 that destroyed 80% of Ulm's old town. Standing in the middle of rubble, completely intact. One of the most extraordinary buildings in Germany and almost nobody talks about this story. Albert Einstein's Birthplace Einstein was born in Ulm on March 14th 1879. He left as a baby — his family moved to Munich when he was one year old — and never returned. Ulm claims him proudly anyway. The Einstein fountain, the birthplace marker, the floating stone memorial. A city honouring a genius who barely knew it existed. Fischerviertel — the Fishermen's Quarter Medieval half-timbered houses built literally over the river. Some from the 15th and 16th century. The part of Ulm that survived the war and still looks like a fairy tale. The Danube River The same river that starts in the Black Forest and ends in the Black Sea — 2,860 kilometres through ten countries. It passes through Ulm on its way. Authentic Swabian Schnitzel As a student I carried a lunchbox. Today I ate a schnitzel. This felt important. The rain that ended everything Because this is also Germany. 🚂 PRACTICAL INFO — Day Trip from Stuttgart to Ulm: Train: Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof → Ulm Hauptbahnhof — approximately 55 minutes, hourly service Cost: ~€15-25 depending on ticket type. Bayern-Ticket works if travelling with others. Best time to visit: Weekdays — everything is open and crowds are manageable Sunday warning: Learn from my mistake. Check what's open before you go. Germany on a Sunday is a different experience. Ulm Münster admission: Free to enter. Tower climb ~€5 — 768 steps to the top, worth it for the view.
