O. Merikanto: Improvisation, Op. 76 no. 3
The unchanging minor chord in the left hand gives the first part of this piece a very static, melancholy feeling. The middle part on the other hand has swiftly changing harmonies, and the texture is almost reminiscent of a chorale. Merikanto was also an organist, so perhaps he was inspired by that.
