Residents take to the streets of Soweto
Residents across Soweto marched under the banner of "March for Our Townships, For Our Future", calling on government to strengthen border management and address what they describe as the impact of undocumented immigration on township communities. Organisers say the demonstration, which ended at the Moroka Police Station, also sought to highlight concerns over crime, policing and economic opportunities. The march comes ahead of the unofficial 30 June deadline set by some activist groups for undocumented migrants to leave South Africa.
