1900s Camping Stove Restoration "Svenska Standard"
This is a rare early 1900s spirit stove, produced in Sweden by Svenska Standard model (Stockholm 16), built with a cast iron body and brass tanks, designed for efficient combustion. š§ No voice-over, pure restoration ASMR š© Real mechanical sound & satisfying transformations Restoration Steps: 1. Initial condition assessment The piece was heavily rusted, with the logo barely visible after more than 120 years. Some components were deformed, while others were completely missing. 2. Disassembly (first challenge) Disassembly was not easy at all ā I couldnāt open the first valve because the fuel line was bent. I had to straighten that section before I could continue. 3. Cleaning & rust removal I used sandblasting (red garnet for cast iron) and chemical solutions (5-5-1 solution) used in distilleries to clean the parts, including the tanks. 4.Metal repair & part rebuilding Some components were too damaged to be saved, so I remade them from scratch, keeping the original design. 5.Fuel system restoration I rebuilt both valves ā one was missing a part, and the other had compromised brazing. A complete rebuild and re-brazing were required. 6.Tank restoration (meticulous work) The tanks were dented and deformed. I made special tools (forming balls) to restore their shape, then soldered them using soldering paste for sealing and polished them well. 7.Surface preparation On the cast iron stove body, I removed only the sharp edges and casting marks, preserving the original character. The logo was not covered, in order to maintain authenticity. 8. Finishing I used high-temperature paint/powder coating designed for motorcycle exhausts. 9. Reassembly After rebuilding all components, it was time for reassembly ā always a critical moment. 10. Testing & first ignition I used denatured alcohol for the test. The first ignition was the moment of truth ā the question was: will it work? 10. Final result After a lot of work and adjustments, the piece came back to life ā not only functional, but also with an authentic look⦠and the smell of popcorn. šæ I hope you enjoy this video!
