Nothing Prepared Us for Coober Pedy

Australia's driest town wasn't what we expected! As we rolled into Coober Pedy, disaster struck when we discovered we'd lost half a tank of water—possibly the worst place in Australia for it to happen. But that was only the beginning. What followed was a weekend full of surprises. We accidentally arrived during the Coober Pedy Opal Festival, explored underground homes and churches, watched one of the quirkiest street parades we've ever seen (including one very relaxed hamster!), toured the incredible Faye's Underground Home, enjoyed an evening at the speedway, and somehow even experienced rain and fog in one of Australia's driest towns.
