Becoming a Police Officer

In this short video, PC Freya Pipes talks about how her perceptions of being a police officer have changed since she joined the job. Before she became a PC, Freya thought of policing as a 'man's job' due to the challenges it poses. But that perception has entirely changed and she feels that having the skillset to get stuck in, tackle criminality and protect the vulnerable is something everyone can be equipped with. Freya joined Derbyshire Constabulary through the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP), which sees candidates study for a policing diploma while carrying out frontline police officer duties.
