An archive gem from the camera of Roy Emmett. Several sequences of GCR 'Improved Director' class locomotive number 506 'Butler Henderson' running on the railway in the early 1980s with sound. Part of the national collection the locomotive also pulled some of the railways early postal demonstration trains besides being a regular performer on passenger services. Built in 1919, the locomotive operated until 1960 - its return to traffic coming just twenty years later. For more information about the Great Central Railway see www.gcrailway.co.uk
