Burgdorf is a town with 31,000 inhabitants in the Hanover region and has a train station on the Lehrte - Celle railway line. The Burgdorf(Han) train station was opened in 1845 and is located in the center of the city. In the north of the station, at the level of the two sidings, was the station of the Burgdorf district railway until the 1960s. Due to the existing sidings on this route, there was once a considerable amount of goods. After the end of freight traffic, the route and a large part of the freight yard were dismantled. Only two sidings remained. For passenger transport, the station has an island platform, which can be reached via an underpass and the reception building.
