Cooler weather aids firefight near Eureka as residents return home

Residents in Eureka are back home after being evacuated for a second time when the Iron and Cherry fires merged Friday. While rain and cooler temperatures provided some relief Sunday, fire officials said the community is not out of danger. Eureka remains under a SET evacuation status, meaning residents should be prepared to leave again if conditions change. For Lori Brockman and Linda Hope, returning home came sooner than expected. "We didn't think we'd get to come home today. We didn't think we'd get home until at least tomorrow, so we're very thankful," Brockman said.
