Wildfire evacuation orders issued near Lyle, Washington

A wildfire near Lyle prompted officials to issue Level Two “Get Set” and Level Three “Go Now” evacuation notifications Sunday afternoon. A notification update issued Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:45 p.m. said the evacuation notices were issued due to a fire in the Lyle area, now named the Lyle Hill Fire. Level 3 evacuations cover over 8.5 square miles just north of Columbia River, according to Klickitat County Emergency Management website. Lyle is an unincorporated community in Klickitat County, Washington, situated on the Columbia River Gorge and is about a one-hour drive away from Portland. The small town with a population of just over 500 is also across the river from Rowena, an Oregon town recovering from its own fire which burned more than 3,600 acres just last summer.
