BR Class 73 Locomotives in the Pre Digital Age Vol BR73-01

BRITISH RAILWAYS VINTAGE TRACTION BR Class 73 Locomotives in the Pre-Digital Age (1987-1998) Volume BR73-01 Another feature in this new series of Vintage Traction from the pre digital era, from the mid 1980's to the turn of the millenium, when the digital age started to put an end to analogue video... This feature focuses on the English Electric Electro-Diesel Locomotive Class 73/0 and 73/1, the latter being built at Vulcun Foundry in Newton-Le-Willows between 1965 and 1967, while the earlier built 73/0 Class being built in Eastleigh's BR Works in 1962. The Class were designed to work on the 3rd rail 750v DC system employed mostly over the entire Southern Region, but could work on a single English Electric diesel generator Engine to work over non electrified sections of line, which enhanced their versatality greatly. Working all manner of trains from Passenger, to Expresses and freight, later being employed on the 'Gatwick Express' from London Victoria and now some examples being re engined and re classed as 73/9 to work the Caledonian Sleeper trains from Edinburgh to Inverness, Ft William and Aberdeen. The 1980's saw regular use double heading on 'Fast' London Waterloo to Bournemouth/Weymouth services, which I was privelage to capture on video. This feature covers the period from around 1986 to 1998 filmed in glorious antique VHS format, later Super VHS, a far cry from today's 4K and Stereo surround sound. I do hope you enjoy the feature and please comment and like, if you feel the video was of some enjoyment and nostalgia to watch.
