SEARCHING FOR MRS WILBERFORCE'S HOUSE: As seen in "The Ladykillers" Ealing Studios 1955 film.
The 1955 Ealing film "The Lady Killers" has long been a favorite of mine, and Mr's Wilberforce's characterful house set against a backdrop of British Railways in the days of steam has occupied my fascination for many years. When Tom Marshall of #BuggleskellyStation produced his superb 3D printed model of Mrs Wilberforce's house, I of course purchased one to install at Melchester. In part 1 of this video I explore the area around Kings Cross and Saint Pancras; from Argyle Street in the south, to Frederica Street in the north, as well as the no longer in existence Caledonian Goods Yard just off of the Caledonian Road. I take a detour to The Model Railway Club's excellent 2mm fine scale layout "Copenhagen Fields", and travel over the viaduct on the North London Line, all in my quest to find the exact spot where Ealing studios constructed Mrs Wilberforce's House, and to see what remains today. The music used in the video includes my own composition "Broken Record" for solo guitar, which can be heard here: • "BROKEN RECORD" By Christopher Matthews Other musical items are my own original arrangements and performances of music and effects from the film.
