This is July 2025’s MTA NYCT and MTA Bus Fleet Status Update, a continuation from where I left off for the June Recap. July was another very chaotic month for bus developments, nearly solely defined by the chaos which unfolded on Staten Island, and the loans/transfers which resulted. This video also addresses changes within the fleet utilized at depots at MTA New York City Bus (MaBSTOA and TA), as well as MTA Bus Company, such as retirements, transfers, loans, and new deliveries. This is Project 8C in my development method for Transit News. In this video, we discuss MaBSTOA loans and transfers, Next Gen transfers and retirements, the official end of the MTA Bus Next Gen era on July 3rd (leaving under 90 Next Gens at NYCT), notable runs, and the final 2024 New Flyer XE40s shifted to East New York Depot for service, with it now having 21 XE40s. The first few XE40s in the 4960s series had shifted to Charleston Depot, with several XE40s visiting NEBR for repairs. We also cover the delivery of the 2025-26 Prevosts to Castleton and Yukon rather than MTA Bus, and an event I call The Great Clusterfuck, which was an interborough attempt to displace Staten Island's severely mismanaged bus fleet.
