Episode 1169 Ken (Bill Roache) continues his search for a place to live. Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) starts to worry about getting married. Ray (Neville Buswell) takes Vicki (Clare Sutcliffe) out to the boating lake and it’s clear they have fallen for each other. Albert (Jack Howarth) decides to consider having Ken move in when he offers £3 per week on rent. Vicki shares with Ray that she recently ended an engagement as she realised she didn’t love her fiancé. Emily insists Ernie (Stephen Hancock) go the whole hog and shave his moustache. Len (Peter Adamson), Jerry (Graham Haberfield), and Stan (Bernard Youens) arrange an impromptu stag party for Ernie, while Bet (Julie Goodyear) and Lucille (Jennifer Moss) plan an impromptu hen night for Emily. Ray confesses his feelings for Vicki and they passionately embrace. The men party at The Flying Horse, and the women in the Rovers' back room. Emily goes to see Ena (Violet Carson) and tells her that now her nerves have subsided, she feels the marriage is right this time unlike when she almost wed Swindley (Arthur Lowe) back in 1964. Ernie panics when a drunken Stan lets slip about Emily jilting Swindley.
