Hilda (Jean Alexander) is concerned about Irma’s (Sandra Gough) state of mind when Irma can’t explain her feelings. Dave Smith (Reginald Marsh) reveals to Elsie (Pat Phoenix) that Stan (Bernard Youens) transferred the deeds to No.13 over to him in exchange for the £600. Irma confesses to Ken (Bill Roache) that she was arguing with David (Alan Rothwell) just before the crash. Ken harshly blames her for the accident, telling her she’s branded for life. Val (Anne Reid) scolds Ken for his lack of compassion. Audrey’s (Gillian McCann) mother, Freda Bright (Julia Jones), visits Dickie (Nigel Humphreys) from Preston and tells him that Audrey is with her. When she realises that Audrey had an affair, she promises to help him out. Stan wants to use the donation money to support Irma. Dickie goes to the train station to meet Audrey, but she doesn’t arrive on the train from Preston.
