Lipsi to Patmos

The Greek Island of Patmos is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. It is famous as the location where John the Revelator received the visions found in the Book of Revelation of the New Testament, and where the book was written. One of the northernmost islands of the Dodecanese, it has a population of only around 3000. The myth of the creation of Patmos claims that the it existed as an island at the bottom of the sea. The goddess Selene convinced Artemis, who, in turn, gained her brother Apollo's help to persuade Zeus to allow the island to arise from the sea.
