Live Discussion on "Art Integrated Learning"
Expert: Prof. Pawan Sudhir Art Integrated Learning (popularly known as AIL) is an NCERT initiative which was launched in year 2010 as an experiential and joyful learning model. It has been tested for its effectiveness in government run primary and upper primary schools in 16 different states so far. It is an approach to 'learn through the arts’. Integration of Arts with Education is an approach to teaching- learning that helps learners develop an understanding of a concept or enables them in construction of new knowledge using different art forms. It helps students engage themselves in a creative process that connects the art form with the concept being learnt. This is based on the constructivist approach of learning where every learner is given opportunity to go through age specific art experience(s) in visual arts (drawing and painting, clay modeling, pottery, paper crafts, mask and puppet making etc.) and in performing arts (music, dance, theatre, puppetry etc.).
