Film School Short Documentary/ We Belong Here/ Gorkha community and Identity/ AAFT

This short documentary was made solely for the purpose of assignment, conducted by a film school, AAFT. This documentary was produced only to widen the perspective and make common people aware of the ongoing situation. Note: the documentary does not defame any form of government, establishment, authority or person. Rather it focuses on capturing factual content of actual occurrence, avoiding any sort of biasness. The documentary unfolds the daily struggles of Indian born Nepalese who try to live a normal life like any other communities. However, faces discrimination on the grounds of appearance, stereotypes, language and lifestyle. Though the history of Nepali community is deep rooted with India since time immemorial, despite their bravery and undivided service to the nation, Nepalese of India or Gorkhas are targets of discrimination and treated as foreigners/ different nationality. This documentary highlights the real problems and challenges that they faced from the primary institution of school to society in itself. Both positive and negative perspective is recorded to defy any biasness. We apologize if any information was missed or wrong. As budding filmmakers, we are working on improving ourselves.
