WAYRA DE LOS ANDES - CARNAVAL AYMARA

At the Aymara Festival, we showcase three musical styles: Choquelas, Sikuiris, and Tarqueada, some of the many varieties of Aymara music in Bolivia. We always strive to preserve the original, with great respect for the indigenous Aymara communities. The audio for this video was recorded in 1990 in London, England. The members of the group WAYRA DE LOS ANDES are: Felipe Lagos, Angel Lagos, Raul Alarcon, and Rolando Tarifa. The videos of the Choquelas are from the communities of Chiripa and Taypy Chinaya in the Department of La Paz. The images are from Umanata, the city of La Paz, and communities around Italaque in the Department of La Paz. The images and videos of the Tarqueda are from Curahuara de Carangas, Omasuyos Province, Ayopaya, San Pedro de Totora, the city of La Paz, and communities in the Department of La Paz.
