Adicciones y dependencias con Marta González, directora de Proyecto Hombre Burgos | EP. 03

We can all become addicted to… and dependent on… things, substances, people, and, above all, our own customs, habits, and quirks. The most frequent addictions and dependencies in humans are the latter, but they generally receive less attention and we worry less about them. Substance addictions and dependencies attract more attention and generate more social alarm. They are the most relevant socially and in terms of health, since their consequences tend to be more serious for health and more detrimental to life. But addictions without substances, or behavioral addictions, are becoming increasingly prevalent and having a greater social impact: gambling, sex, shopping, work… and a long list of others that also deserve attention and treatment. Understanding why some people become addicted and dependent easily as soon as they come into contact with a drug or addictive behavior, while others do not, is crucial for detecting and preventing the progression from use to abuse and from abuse to addiction and dependence. It is also essential for treatment and relapse prevention. We'll discuss all of this in this episode frankly, but without falling into the trap of social and media alarmism that insists on discovering new addictions, each stranger and more extravagant than the last, but which have little to no health relevance. With Marta González, director of Proyecto Hombre Burgos.
