In this video, I share what we're doing to recover after losing much of our garden. We remove drift-damaged milkweed to help protect monarch butterflies, clean up animal areas, move chickens to safer locations, start microgreens and sprouts indoors to replace the greens we lost, set up a GreenStalk garden, and plant sunflowers across the property in hopes of helping restore the soil. But recovery isn't just physical. I also talk honestly about the emotional side of this experience, including the criticism from people who believe that living near commercial agriculture means we should simply accept the risks that come with it. This has been one of the most difficult seasons our family has faced on the homestead, but we're choosing to keep moving forward one step at a time.
