Stockton on Tees’ Battle for Redemption — A Story of Hope and Decline

Join me on a walk through the historic High Street of Stockton-on-Tees, a town in North East England with a rich industrial heritage. As we stroll along the High Street, I'll share some of the town's fascinating history, from its medieval market roots to its current regeneration efforts. We'll explore the market, both past and current, which has been in operation since 1310, and show some of the unique shops and businesses that call Stockton home. However, our walk also takes us to a more challenging issue, the crime and drug use that is on its streets. We'll discuss the impact of these issues on the community and why some avoid the high street altogether. My goal in creating this video is to provide a candid and balanced look at Stockton's High Street, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses. The reason for me moving in various areas in Stockton and not being 100% focused, was due to being followed, and watched, by a group of men and I was unsure to their intent. I wanted to show you the Georgian Theatre, Hodgsons Yard Flea Market, and other areas, but I was unsure if I was going to be jumped and my camera stolen from me.
