The Morning Knows Your Name

Something told me to write this song. My first attempt at a gospel type song. This is for a dear friend. For Jim LYRICS: Verse 1 Our time on earth here is limited And no breath we’re given’s wasted We come and go for a reason Like the cycle of the seasons Have faith in what remains In the joy love leaves behind Like a seed deep in the earth Keep reaching for the light PRE-CHORUS Your time is not wasted Waiting on the change Your roots grow deeper Nourished by the falling rain CHORUS Though the night is long The morning knows your name What is buried is not gone It will rise again Hold your faith Like fire beneath the rain Love still walks beside you And the dawn will come again VERSE 2 When days of silence linger Like a shadow at your door And the ache can feel like winter Settling deeper than before But the ones we hold in memory Are not carried off by time They are carried by the branches And the turning of the sky CHORUS Though the night is long The morning knows your name What is buried is not gone It will rise again Hold your faith Like fire beneath the rain Love still walks beside you And the dawn will come again BRIDGE When the dark feels unending And your prayers are hard to find The earth still turns beneath you And the sun will forever rise What was broken has not vanished What was loved will still remain Every tear becomes a river Leading you home through the pain FINAL CHORUS Though the night has not let go The morning knows your name Even grief cannot undo you Love will rise again Hold on gently to what matters Like a light that won’t decay Love is standing in the silence And the dawn will come again OUTRO All of us who love you We will be your rock While the world keeps turning And you are not alone
