Nineteen days after the devastating earthquakes of June 24, Jorge Rodríguez, in his role as Chief of Staff for the temporary shelters, reported that more than 19,500 people are being housed in 108 temporary shelters, with 15 of the largest complexes located in La Guaira state. In the capital, following a massive eviction operation carried out between Saturday night and Sunday at open shelters in Plaza de la Moneda, the National Pantheon, and the Andrés Bello School in La Candelaria, makeshift camps were found to remain in the Altagracia parish, specifically behind the National Library and the Ministry of Education. There, families from affected social programs, such as the "7 de Octubre" mission, are subsisting in critical conditions while awaiting relocation to spaces set up with partition walls at the Poliedro de Caracas. The medical emergency has reached a breaking point with the closure and overcrowding of at least eight healthcare facilities in the capital. The Coche Peripheral Hospital and the Francisco Antonio Rízquez Hospital in Cotiza were completely rendered unusable after receiving a "red light" rating due to severe structural damage. Residents of Cotiza reported that the structure of the Rízquez Hospital continues to progressively collapse with each aftershock, demanding an urgent, controlled demolition to prevent a greater tragedy for passersby and the staff still working nearby. This closure leaves the community without access to critical care in areas such as ophthalmology, rehabilitation, and general medicine. Similarly, the Concepción Palacios Maternity Hospital suffered structural damage that forced the evacuation and transfer of patients to other facilities. To mitigate the collapse, 13 field hospitals managed by the international community—with missions from Spain, Qatar, and El Salvador—have been set up to absorb the massive influx of injured people transferred from the epicenter of the earthquake in La Guaira.
