Novena to Saints Joachim and Anne - Day 2 ✝️ By the sign ✠ of the Holy Cross, deliver us, O Lord ✠ our God, from our enemies. In the name of the Father, and of the Son ✠, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 🛐 ACT OF CONTRITION My Lord Jesus Christ,... 🙏 OPENING PRAYER O most worthy grandparents of Christ, Joachim and Anne! I, a wretched sinner, have great confidence in your merits and sure protection, knowing that your grandson and daughter, Jesus and Mary, will deny you nothing. And so, now that I find myself with a singular longing and grave need, I have resolved to implore your patronage during this Novena, offering each day some devotion in your honor, so that through your intercession I may obtain the consolation I desire from divine mercy. My principal aim, and what I sincerely intend, is the greater glory of God and the salvation of my soul. May His Divine Majesty, through your high merits, graciously hear my prayers and grant that after this Novena I may obtain what I fervently ask of Him. Amen. With a humble and devout heart, I come today for the first time into your presence, O most glorious grandparents of Jesus Christ, Joachim and Anne. Confidently, I beseech you to be my faithful intercessors with God, so that through your heroic virtues He may grant me what I so greatly desire and which you know well. O most blessed pair, Joachim and Anne, immense is the confidence I have in you, believing that the most merciful God cannot refuse my entreaties if you deign to sponsor and commend them with a single word. For in proportion to the sovereign honor with which the eternal Father has exalted you above all other saints to be most worthy grandparents of His Only Begotten Son, your protection will be powerful on the throne of His mercy, and blessed your devotees! If the Son surpassed you, even admitting you as glorious parents of His Most Holy Mother, He cannot fail to hear you now in heaven, fulfilling your intercessions; and if the Holy Spirit has recognized you as so righteous that, among all the just of the Old Law, He chose you as fountains of grace, how can He refuse you the grace you now ask for me, a poor sinner? And finally, if the Most Holy Trinity has honored you on earth more than other saints, surely now in heaven He will wish to please you and grant your supplication. For this reason, I live assured, O my holy protectors, Joachim and Anne! that by infallibly praying for me, I will be consoled in my labors. Hear me, my pious advocates, and pray to God for me. Approach the throne of the Most Holy Trinity with confidence, presenting my affliction in heartfelt words, and what you merited on earth, and ask Him, in His infinite goodness, to have mercy on me. O most loving, most kind, and most merciful patrons, Joachim and Anne, hear my prayer, obtaining for me what I ask; bring my need to His attention! I entrust it to you from the depths of my heart and beg you to remember it most mercifully. Speak to your sweetest Grandson a single loving word for me, saying: “Most loving Jesus, in our contemplation, have mercy on this humble sinner, and grant him what he so faithfully requests. Hear him because of the great trust he places in us, and do not let him go away disconsolate.” 2️⃣ SECOND DAY I remind you, O most blessed couple, Joachim and Anne, of the supreme joy you experienced when your holy marriage was celebrated; and through it I beseech you to obtain for me from God patience in my afflictions and spiritual peace for my soul, with what I ask in this Novena. 🛐 State the grace you wish to receive through this novena, if it is for the glory of God and the good of your soul, and pray three Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and Glory Be. 🙏 FINAL PRAYER Illustrious and glorious Patriarch Saint Joachim and most gracious Saint Anne, how great is my joy to consider that you were chosen from among all the saints of God to fulfill the divine plan and enrich the world with the great Mother of God, Mary Most Holy! Because of this singular privilege, you have come to have the greatest influence on both Mother and Son, to obtain for us the graces we most need. With great confidence, I turn to your powerful protection and entrust to you all my spiritual and material needs and those of my family. Especially the particular grace that I entrust to your care and earnestly desire to obtain through your intercession. As you were perfect examples of the interior life, obtain for me the gift of the most sincere prayer. May I never set my heart on the fleeting goods of this life. Grant me a living and constant love for Jesus and Mary. Grant me also sincere devotion and obedience to the Holy Church and to the Pope who governs her, so that I may live and die in faith, hope, and perfect charity.
